Biography

Alison Shay Hochman is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist Applicant under the supervision of Angela M. Rukule, LMFT. Alison received her A.A. in Criminal Justice from Los Angeles Valley College, and a B.A. in Psychology from California State University, Northridge. She received her M.S. from California Lutheran University with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy and a specialization in Trauma. Alison is passionate about bodywork in trauma recovery and received her Mindfulness Coaching Certification and Trauma Informed Yoga Certification through My Vinyasa Practice.

Alison has spent 7+ years working specifically with adolescents and parents/families in a variety of settings. She has led adolescent support groups primarily working with opportunity/at-risk youth: foster youth, domestic violence, self-harm behaviors, and the LGBTQ+ population. Alison additionally has experience working with individuals who have experienced complex trauma, domestic violence, dissociation, gender dysphoria, depression, and codependency. Alison uses an integrative approach incorporating somatic techniques, DBT/mindfulness, and art therapy. She wholeheartedly believes that there is no “one size fits all” in healing and partners with each client to tailor therapy to meet their needs.
